Create a Gingerbread House!

This Christmas Gingerbread STEM Lesson includes 2 options for students to design and build a gingerbread house. (One option is a cardboard gingerbread house, and the other is a graham cracker gingerbread house.)

In the story, The Plan For The Gingerbread House, the children plan, design, and build a marvelous gingerbread house for the Gingerbread Fair. They make some mistakes but keep trying until they get it just right.

In this STEM activity, students are challenged to create the perfect gingerbread house.

After their gingerbread house is complete, students can write about what it's like in the gingerbread world.

This STEM challenge aligns with NGSS, Common Core, and TEKS.

Option 1 - Graham Cracker House Suggested Materials:

• square graham crackers
• icing (see included recipe)
• small plates to build on
• plastic utensils
• candy and sprinkles for decoration
