Connect STEM and literacy with The Most Magnificent Maker’s A to Z Read Aloud STEM Challenges.
This lesson helps students practice creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and perseverance using reusable building materials you may already have in your STEM lab, library, classroom, and makerspace.
Designed for grades 2-5, these open-ended challenges give students meaningful ways to build, test, redesign, and share their ideas. This lesson could also be used for an Elementary Family STEM Night.
Each material includes three levels of challenge: a Skill Challenge to practice with the material, a Creator Challenge to spark imaginative design, and a Bonus Challenge that adds criteria, constraints, or a testing goal.
The activities can be used after reading The Most Magnificent Maker’s A to Z by Ashley Spires or as stand-alone STEM centers.
