In the story, Our Table, Violet has lots of fond memories of eating meals at the table with her family. She watches shows about carpentry with her dad and comes up with a plan with her brother to build a new table.
In this Read Aloud STEM challenge, students will build a table out of popsicle sticks and cubes. The table must stand on its own and all of the family members must be able to fit around it.
After students create their table, they can write or discuss a favorite family memory.
