Learn about Ruby Bridges with this engaging STEM challenge!

Students learn about Ruby Bridges by completing this STEM challenge! This works well for both Black History Month and Women's History Month.

This lesson starts with reading I am Ruby Bridges. Students can complete a timeline of the life of Ruby Bridges. They learn about segregation and integration. They design and create a school desk and write about what they learned.

Perfect companion activity to I Am Ruby Bridges by Ruby Bridges.

This activity helps students develop critical thinking and engineering skills. Students plan, design, and execute their own ideas. After they have completed their activity, there is time for reflection on what worked and what didn't.

A writing activity is included for students to write about what they learned.
