Coding to Kindness Relationship Skills SEL STEM Activity (World Kindness Day)

Integrate Coding, STEM, SEL, and literacy!

Coding takes multiple steps before the code, just like friendships. Each step we take towards being kind to others, helps to build our friendship with them.

In Coding to Kindness, the characters used the directions and sequence of their code to listen to each other, share with one another, and solve problems.

In this Social Emotional Learning STEM Activity, students make a model swing friends to play on.

Students discover how to navigate relationships through a mindful moments strategy, coding activity, and writing prompt.

CASEL Framework: Relationship Skills

This activity is a part of a series of STEM resources designed to follow the CASEL Framework for social emotional learning.

The abilities to establish and maintain healthy and supportive relationships and to effectively navigate settings with diverse individuals and groups.

This includes the capacities to communicate clearly, listen actively, cooperate, work collaboratively to problem solve and negotiate conflict constructively, navigate settings with differing social and cultural demands and opportunities, provide leadership, and seek or offer help when needed.
