Build strong early math foundations with 8 Preschool and Kindergarten Number STEM Centers.
This set of hands-on counting activities and number recognition centers for 1–10 helps young learners practice counting, number formation, and identifying quantities through playful, STEM-inspired tasks.
Perfect for Pre-K and kindergarten math centers, morning tubs, or small-group rotations, these low-prep number centers keep students engaged while they learn to see, say, build, and write numbers with confidence.
What Students Do
- Count and Trace – Use counting bears to match quantities 1–10, then trace the large numeral with a finger or dry-erase marker to connect counting with number formation.
- Popsicle Numbers – Build numerals 1–10 using popsicle sticks on colorful number cards, strengthening spatial awareness and fine motor skills.
- Dino Match – Match each number card to the card with the same number of cute dinosaurs, building number recognition and one-to-one correspondence.
- Stack Them! – Stack linking cubes to match the number on each block “tower,” practicing counting sets and comparing which stacks are taller or shorter.
- Number Puzzle – Put picture-strip puzzles back in order by arranging the numbers correctly, reinforcing number order and visual problem-solving.
- Dice Dots – Count dot patterns on dice cards and place the matching number in the square, helping students subitize and recognize quantities without counting each dot.
- Dot-a-Number – Use dot markers to fill in large numeral outlines and ten frames, then trace the numbers for extra writing practice.
- How Many Do You See? – Look at groups of pictures and circle the correct number on the worksheet, connecting counting to written numerals.
